ABOUT THE WORK: Where Have All the Flowers Gone: Greene Street, 2002, acrylic/mixed-media on paper, 30" X 22": The work is from a series of abstract SoHoscapes that are as much about a family's personal and collective grief, acceptance and redemption as they are about the devastation in my neighborhood as a result of the WTC attacks. It gives witness to the power of art to heal as painting them was a healing and restorative process for me as it is for many who view them. Inspirations: Yellow Hibiscus, 2004, watercolor on paper, 15" X II": The work is from a series of paintings that were exhibited in Honolulu, HI in the summer of 2004. It gave me an opportunity to actualize my passion for serial imagery and evocative color with subject matter that took me back to my roots. It also gave me an opportunity to return exclusively to watercolor, another one of my passion. |
